How Can Certified Migration Agents Help in Your Australian Study?

Australia issues several visas to foreign nationals based on their purposes and goals. The Australian government keeps changing the immigration policies constantly with updates and tweaks in the existing ones. One of such changes came in student visa (subclass 500) simplifying the earlier complex procedures for aspirants.

Australia is the third most preferred destination for overseas students in the world. However, aspirants need a student visa to study a course which is more than three months duration. It is compulsory to apply for a student visa to pursue a diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate courses at Australian universities.

Here are some important visas that Australian government issue to international students:

Bridging Visa

The Bridging Visa Australia allows a holder to stay temporarily in Australia after the current substantive visa expires or while it is being processed. It is offered if you lodge an application in Australia for a visa. The temporary visa doesn’t allow the holder to return to Australia after leaving. It is offered in different categories:

  • Bridging Visa A
  • Bridging Visa B
  • Bridging Visa C
  • Bridging Visa D
  • Bridging Visa E

Temporary Graduate Visa

The Temporary Graduate Visa is a temporary visa that Australia’s Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) offer to recent overseas graduates. This visa allows graduates to live and work in Australia up to 4 years depending on the specialisation in degrees. It is a vital visa that enables overseas graduates to enhance career growth acquiring relevant work experience working in the niche industry and enrolling in internship programs.

Reasons to Consult with MARA Certified Agents

Things to Remember When Choosing Expert Migration & Education Consultants

Australia is one of the most liveable countries around the world. Being a developed country, it enjoys higher economic prosperity and provides sufficient job opportunities to its residents. A liberal society, laid-back environment, medical facilities, temperate weather and robust transport system turn this country into a desirable place to study and live permanently. That’s why thousands of overseas students turn up here to study and stay each year.

However, many international students encounter several obstacles when pursuing higher education in Australia. First, it’s the complicated migration process that may lead you to the rejection of visa application. It’s mandatory to follow the guidelines when applying for a visa extension, renewal, or processing of the new one. Though Simplified Student Visa Framework has eased the process, applicants will still need guidance from expert migration & education consultants.

Why Hire a Migration Agent?

If you don’t have any information about immigration rules, visa process, and the visa types or categories, it’s better that you hire an agent. Things You Should Consider Before Using a Migration Agent Melbourne

Hello All! I’m Susan Waugh. As a registered migration agent, I am often asked whether one should use an agent or go it alone.

In short, my advice is that using a migration agent Melbourne to move to Australia is not essential; however, it depends more on your ability to submit a successful application. In a way, it’s something like deciding whether to use an accounting professional to submit your tax return, or a lawyer/solicitor to prepare your Will. Some people are confident enough to do it themselves- and do so successfully; others prefer to contact a professional advisor. It’s a personal choice.

If you opt to use a registered migration agent, the services they provide will often include:

  • Advising you on what visa may suit you the best
  • Offering you an honest opinion about your chances of success
  • Ensuring that the documents you’ll need for your application are of a standard that meets the ADIC's (Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship); and that of the relevant State Government, if required
  • Ensuring that your application is completed correctly and accompanied by the right fee, so the application is valid- the Department is legally unable to consider invalid applications
  • Submitting your application, monitor its progress and liaise with the Government of Australia on your behalf
  • In case your application is not successful, apply for Ministerial intervention, submit an appeal or/and represent you at tribunal hearing
  • Often offer you follow up and subsidiary services, if required

If you’re an overseas student and eyeing for Australia permanent residency, you can seek advice on the issue from a migration agent.

Things you should keep in mind when retaining a migration agent:

  • In Australia, a migration agent needs to be registered with the MARA (Migration Agents Registration Authority). Migration agents offering advice outside Australia aren’t required to be registered and bound by MARA’s stringent requirements.
  • A migration agent is not expected to guarantee that you’ll be 100 percent successful in application- in fact, it is against the MARA’s Code of Conduct to make such claim.
  • Migration agents in Australia are prohibited from implying that they have a special relationship with the Government that will benefit their clients.

To find out a registered migration agent, you can visit MARA’s website.

Some Questions & Answers about Australian Permanent Residency

If you are an overseas student studying in Australia, the thought of securing a permanent residency (PR) in Australia might have occurred to you. Let us go through some common questions about Australia permanent residency.

Who is an Australian permanent resident?

A permanent resident of Australia is a non-citizen who possess a permanent visa. Being a permanent resident of the country, you can study, work and live in Australia without any restriction and enjoy most of the entitlements and rights of Australian citizens. Once you become a permanent resident in Australia, you can have access to Medicare, a national healthcare scheme of the Australian Government.

How can one become a permanent resident?

Plenty of overseas students opt to apply for permanent residency after they graduate. To do so, you must ‘express interest’ through the DIBP’s SkillSelect migration program. SkillSelect is an online service which enables you to be considered for a skilled visa by submitting an EOI (Experience of Interest). Candidates must provide personal details, information about education and work experience, a nominated occupation, details of a skills assessment regarding the nominated occupations, information about their level of English language proficiency, and information about business and investment experience.

Meanwhile, a Bridging Visa Australia helps you remain in the country when your Australian visa has expired, and you’re waiting for a decision on another Australia visa application.

For graduates, the Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189) is the most likely option. The Skilled Independent Visa is a points-tested visa for skilled workers aged between 18 to 49 years who aren’t sponsored by an employer or a family member or nominated by a state or territory government. This visa let you live and work in Australia.

How to boost the chances of gaining PR?

There are a number of ways to enhance the chances of gaining PR in Australia. This involves staying in Australia after completing your degree to acquire work experience and language skills through the Temporary Graduate Visa; improving your English language skills, completing a more advanced qualification, and completing a Professional Year Program.

Where to get information about PR?

Applying for PR can be a confusing task as it involves many steps. To receive the most up-to-date information, and take the right path towards PR, it is important to contact Migration Agent Melbourne at AECC Global.

Why the profession of a of social worker is unique and satisfying?

The role of social workers has become more relevant in the world tackling oppression, inequality and injustice. Though there is another set of professionals, such as writers, journalists, campaigners, lawyers, politicians etc., who talk about ensuring social justice to the ones affected by injustice. Then what makes social workers unique?

If you want to pursue a diploma in social work and have the same question mentioned above, there are three main contributions that make social workers different from other professionals.

First, the profession is concerned with the ‘social’: to improve and establish social relations between people. Where doctors deal with diseases, teachers teach pupils, and lawyers stand against crime, social workers uniquely work to strengthen relationships between people collectively and individually. A teacher or counsellor may guide or counsel a child individually, but a social worker would visit a house, sit down and join other family members to help sort out the problems.

Second, a social worker doesn’t give up on people only because they do not fit in with the bureaucratic categories. They try to understand the cause of their problems and stick with trying to get the best for them.

Third, social workers are prepared and expected to intervene in social relations. Some years ago, people complained about early social workers interfering with other individuals’ life. But today, you cannot imagine treating an abused child, or a violent mentally ill person without intervening in their lives and seeking support from the family. In fact, it shows how useful the profession in which people are trained and prepared to have a go and help sort things out.

In this way, a social worker helps to maintain social fabric. That’s why most countries promote social work as a profession.

In Australia, social work is one of the cheapest courses for international students. The Australian government has been promoting social work for a very long time and has taken many initiatives to aware students and people about the social work profession.

The Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) defines that social work as a profession that facilitates social change, social cohesion and development, and the empowerment and liberation of people. Principles of human rights, social justice, collective responsibility and respect for diversity are central to social work.

Over the past few years, the number of international as well as native students studying social work in Australian universities has increased significantly. If you are looking to get into a social work course, there would be no place better than Australia.

If you are on the brink of completing your studies and want to stay here for an extended period, a Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485) is your best starting point.

The visa is relevant for the overseas students who have just graduated from an Australian university or educational institution. The visa allows international students to live, study and work in the country temporarily after they have completed their studies. This visa has two streams:

Eligibility criteria for this visa include that you must:
